Dani Pedrosa start the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland third

Posted by Redbull Action

Dani Pedrosa will start the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland from the first row after qualifying third behind Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner.

Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Stoner were the only three riders to go under the 1’22” mark on Saturday. Pedrosa’s team-mate Andrea Dovizioso heads up the second row as he finished three-tenths off the Spaniard.

The Italian will be joined by Valentino Rossi and Héctor Barberá on the second row.

Qualifying was red flagged with 25 minutes remaining as Lorenzo’s M1 started to spill oil, and flames then began to pour out of the side of the Spaniard’s bike as he approached turn one before he managed to pull off the track. Following behind, both Ben Spies and Randy De Puniet fell in the spilt oil.

De Puniet had to go for X-rays on his right leg after he collided with Spies’ stationary bike as he slid off. He will be hopeful of taking his place on the grid, having started 189 consecutive races since 1999.
